Why medicines cannot be stored in the bathroom and in the kitchen

Have you ever had this: got a pill from a contour cell, and it crumbled in your hands? Or did the medicine change color, although the expiration date has not yet expired? In a similar situation, we are looking for a reason anywhere: counterfeit, tricks of the pharmacy chain that sold the "delay". But in fact, as they say in the famous fable of Krylov, "the casket just opened!" It's all about storage!

The value of proper storage

Most often, only after the discovery of a deteriorated drug, many of us notice that the package says "store in a dry, dark place."

And who to blame for the fact that we left the tablets that are contraindicated in moisture in the bathroom? For some reason, it doesn’t occur to anyone to hang shelves for books in the bathroom, but if you can live without a spoiled book, then not always without medication.

How not to be in a similar situation? The answer is obvious: read the instructions! This is where storage instructions are printed. Non-compliance with storage conditions can make a dummy out of a medicine or, worse, poison.

Important! To store most medicines, you need a dry place without direct sunlight.

How are things going with these requirements in different rooms of the house? What mistake is made by leaving medicine in the kitchen or bathroom? We will tell you more about this.

Why is the kitchen and bathroom not suitable for medicine?

We are looking for the answer to this question from drug manufacturers: on the packaging or in the text of the instructions for use in the "storage conditions" section.

Temperature

Reference! The most common formulation for tablet forms is: "store at a temperature not exceeding +25 degrees."

Now let’s think, is the temperature always maintained at that level in the kitchen and in the bathroom? The answer is obvious: no, not always!

Humidity

Another factor that we cannot rule out: in these rooms - high humidity, destructive for drugs in paper packaging, powders, various plasters and dressings.

Some object: on the shelves of hardware stores there are special plastic lockers for small items and medicines, they organically fit only into the interior of the bathroom. Let's say that on such a cabinet there is a red cross or other medical symbol. But who bothers to choose another or to mask this with decorative panels and place it outside the wet areas?

Interesting! There are more “exotic” explanations why there is no place for drugs in the kitchen. The ancient Vedic science of the correct construction of living space says the following: if the medicine is in the fire area (in our case, in the kitchen), then the house does not have financial well-being!

Where in the apartment is it best to store medicine

Having figured out where it is impossible to store, we will take up the search for the most suitable place.

Two main rules

  • The most important rule: there, where there is no access for children, people with mental disorders and animals.
  • The second rule: follow directions from the drug company.

Therefore, we again turn to the instructions.

Storage options

  • If the instructions say a dry, cool place, then the medicine should be put in the refrigerator (but not in the freezer!)

Tip! It is better to highlight the bottom shelf or shelf on the door. So store drops for the eyes, some ointments, syrups, suppositories, vaccines.

True, it is advisable to pre-pack them in a sealed container or plastic bag. After all, even the best refrigerator is not immune to condensation.

  • Liquids poured into bottles of dark or opaque glass, do not require special conditions. They can be left where convenient.
  • For other dosage forms (tablets, powders, solutions, bandages, plasters, "herbs"), any storage systems closed by opaque doors. It can be a special closet, shelf, drawer in the living room or bedroom.

Reference! On sale there are special containers designed specifically for storing medicines and medical equipment. The containers are divided into sections, in which everything will be in strict order. A tonometer, a thermometer, a glucometer, etc. are also placed here.

As a rule, such containers have handles, so they are convenient to carry and put directly at the patient’s bed.

If the medicine was stored in the country

Finally, information for residents of the southern regions of our country who prefer to spend the summer in a country house not equipped with air conditioning.

Remember that high temperature is strictly contraindicated for tablets, they are destroyed by it and lose their healing properties.

because at the end of the summer season, one should meticulously examine the remnants of the medicinesurviving the heat. It is necessary to get rid of the tablets in yellowed packs, in cut blisters. They may not have deteriorated, but why risk health?
