What you can not clean the slow cooker

After buying another kitchen appliance, first of all, you should familiarize yourself with the methods of caring for it in detail. A slow cooker is no exception.

In all multicookers, without exception, the inner bowl is removable. This makes cleaning as convenient as possible.

It is important to remember that:

  • first you need to unplug the device from the outlet;
  • gently get the bowl;
  • wait until it cools down.

Attention! Do not cool the tank with a jet of cold water! Thus, the coating may deform.

After all of the above operations are completed, you can start washing. The choice of cleaning products depends on the material of the bowl (ceramic or teflon). In any case, only gentle soap solutions with a neutral pH balance and without abrasive particles should be used.

It is strictly forbidden to use coarse fabrics and sponges, metal objects! Any scratch on the surface will lead to complete disrepair - the food will start to burn, taste and smell will deteriorate, and the coating itself will deteriorate more and more.

A bowl is that part in which the products are in the cooking process. That is why it is necessary to carefully monitor that after cleaning all detergents are qualitatively removed. Then it must be wiped dry with a towel. Even better if you can leave the container to dry on its own for a while. If this is not done, mold is likely to occur.

The cover can be either removable or non-removable. If the first usually does not cause any problems - you can wash it in the same way as the bowl - then cleaning the second is somewhat difficult:

  1. To prevent all possible troubles, it is first recommended to wrap the device with a plastic bag, leaving only the lid on the outside.
  2. After that, you need to tilt the crock-pot (it is easiest to put it on its side) so that it is convenient to remove all the crumbs and adhering food debris with a soft cloth.
  3. Returning the slow cooker to its normal position, you need to fill the internal container with water and set the "Steam" mode for 10-15 minutes. So you can wash off the grease, scale and other unpleasant consequences of cooking from the lid.
  4. In the end, it remains only to wipe the device with a dry cloth and leave it open for a while to ventilate.

The outer case is even easier to care for. Wipe it as often as possible with a damp cloth or sponge.

Important! Never place the device under water! So all the electronic circuits inside can burn out.

Burned spots must not be removed with solid objects. For effective cleaning, any soft gel is suitable (it is best to use a special tool for a multicooker). It must be poured into the place of soot, adding warm water, and left for a while (about 1-2 hours). After that, it is enough to wipe the surface with a sponge - everything will depart without difficulty.

If a little food spilled out and got on the heating element, then it is necessary to remove it from there. The main thing is to turn off the device and wait for it to cool completely.

Then remove the bowl and wipe the bottom with a cloth or napkin. If the heater is embossed and residues are not removed so easily, you can use soda. In this case, it is extremely important not to rub it, but just to fall asleep and wait a bit. After about an hour, you can remove the product with a sponge and leave to dry.

To avoid such troubles, you need to pay great attention to the manufacturer's recommendations:

  • Do not load too many products inside;
  • monitor the correctness of the set temperature (if you put more than required, the dish will not cook faster);
  • close the lid if the cooking process does not require otherwise;
  • observe the requirements of the regime: when extinguishing, do not set the cooking program and so on.

These simple tips will help you avoid trouble and premature failure.

A crock-pot is a kitchen appliance that requires careful and accurate care. If you do not take this fact into account, then the device will not last long, and you will be disappointed. When caring for it and operating it should be excluded: metal graters, coats with a coarse layer, cleaning powders and products with abrasive particles, spoons, forks and knives for mixing food during cooking.

Fortunately, these are all easily replaceable things. Parts of the device can be washed with ordinary soapy water (kitchen liquid soap + warm water), special gels with a neutral composition, soft sponges and rags, and wet wipes. To stir food it is better to use silicone or wooden spatulas - these materials do not harm the coating.

Reference! Some housewives prefer to cover the device with a towel after cooking to prevent food from cooling down. You do not need to do this! Each multicooker has the function of maintaining temperature, and similar additional actions can lead the electronics to overheating.

Often, immediately after purchase, you can feel an unpleasant odor inside the device. You should not be afraid, it is easily eliminated with the usual ventilation. At home, it is enough to disassemble the structure (remove all removable elements), place them on a dry towel and, leaving the lid open, wait about a day. Usually, such actions save.

If the smells remained after operation, in this case there are a lot of folk remedies:

  • add a slice of lemon, orange or ordinary citric acid to the water and boil in the "Cooking" or "Steam" mode for about 20 minutes;
  • wipe the inner surface with vinegar and leave to air for half a day;
  • at night place inside a container (or rag bag) with a mixture of salt and soda;
  • leave a cup of coffee beans inside the multicooker for a day, closing the lid;
  • crush tablets of activated carbon (about 10-15 pieces) and place them inside for about half a day.

Subject to these simple rules, your slow cooker will last for more than a dozen years, and each dish prepared in it will have a unique taste and aroma.
