The need to use a computer in many areas of life makes it important to know some basic terms. Among them, the abbreviation PCM occupies a special place. What does it mean?

The concept of PCM on the computer

It is difficult for a novice user to understand computer terminology. Quite a common misconception among beginners - PKM means a certain key on the keyboard.

In fact, this term stands for "right mouse button". There are simply no other options for this reduction in the computer field.

IMPORTANT! Whatever type of PC you use: a stationary device or a laptop, in all cases this concept is used only to indicate the right mouse button.

What is PKM for?

Unlike the left, the right mouse button plays a supporting role. The range of use of the button includes two options for work: the main and in the keyboard shortcuts.

The main application involves invoking the context menu and subsequent manipulations with it. The list appears when you click once on the file and can contain a different number of available commands. Their nature and number depends on the properties of a particular object.

The most common actions in the context list:

1. Moving files. When you press and hold an object using RMB, a menu is called up in which the user selects the type of action: copy, cut, etc.
2. Work with applications. Calling the hidden menu allows you to use the basic commands for the selected program.
3. Menu in the notification area (tray). Here you can customize the view of the area, call the task manager, etc.

The use in combination with the keyboard buttons allows you to implement auxiliary options.

The Shift key can be used by right-clicking on a file (folder). In the context section, new commands will appear, the list of which determines the version of the operating system.

ATTENTION! The set of actions also differs depending on the nature of the element (folder or file) used.

The combination of Ctrl + Shift + PCM launches applications on behalf of the Administrator. You can close the context menu by simply clicking outside it with the left key.

Convenience PCM is indisputable, but it is worth noting that not all computer functions are realized with this tool. There are options, such as various settings for the appearance of the window, etc., which will not be reflected in the drop-down menu of the button. Thus, its capabilities are limited.

If the user is left-handed, then it may be convenient for him to change the functionality of the keys by swapping them. How to do it?

Follow the path: Start - Control Panel - "Hardware and Sound" - "Devices and Printers" - "Mouse" and in the last window open the "Buttons" tab. Activate the item "Change button assignment".

ATTENTION! On various Windows systems, the name of this option may vary slightly.

This mode may also be required in case of failure of the left button, which will allow you to temporarily replace it with the PCM.
