Methods for laying parquet board

Parquet board is a popular wooden flooring. The material has many positive characteristics, so it is in great demand in the market. But you need to know how to properly install parquet boards.

Methods for laying parquet board

There are three installation methods:

  1. Dry or floating method. Locks are used to connect. This method is the most common. It is very important to prepare the base and locks in order to achieve results. More suitable for covering small spaces. Suitable for laying both on concrete and wood, the most important thing is that the material is dry and smooth (the last parameter is important so that the boards do not creak). The surface can be leveled with plaster. And with too large areas that need to be aligned, you can use a plywood board.
  2. Using glue. Everything is simple here, the parquet is glued with an adhesive material.
  3. Using fasteners. Anchors, dowels and screws are suitable as fasteners. For a wooden floor, a self-tapping screw is more suitable, and for a concrete anchor or dowel. But if the mount is of high quality, it is suitable for any material.

Rules for laying parquet board

There are some rules that must be followed in order for the board to last longer:

  1. Immediately after the purchase, the parquet must be brought into the room where it will be laid. We leave it in the package for two days. This will help the product to get used to the room.
  2. Before installation, the floor is covered with a substrate. It is necessary to protect the product from moisture. The material is made of wood, and water falling on it can cause mold.
  3. We lay the material according to the instructions (should be included).
  4. The styling method does not greatly affect the final result. The most important thing is to choose a product suitable for the room.
  5. If gaps appear between the boards, we cover them with sealant. But with proper installation of the product, their number should be minimal.
  6. The product is laid on a substrate. You should not save on materials (this applies to both parquet and substrate). This will shorten the life of the product.
  7. Laying parquet should be starting from the corner at the window.

Attention! It is recommended to fully lay out one row, and only then proceed to another.

How to lay a parquet board on plywood

There are several ways to lay parquet on a different surface. For concrete, for example, a good idea is to cover the floor with a layer of plywood. This provides that it will lie between the concrete coating and the product. This method will help to smooth out all the unevenness of the floor, and increase the life of the unit. We adhere to the following rules:

  1. The thickness of the plywood is equal to the thickness of the product.
  2. Plywood should also be stored for two days in the room where the installation is carried out.
  3. Individual sections of plywood are covered with glue before installation.

The process of laying parquet on plywood is as follows:

  1. Glue is applied to the plywood.
  2. We lay the material, leaving the desired clearance.
  3. We mount a wedge.
  4. Attach to the base.
  5. If the last board does not fit, you can cut off the extra piece.
  6. We lay the next row from the place where the sawn board is located.
  7. Most often, for laying the last row, you need to cut off all the boards.

Laying such material is a simple process, but it requires all the rules to be followed. However, there are many styling options.
