LCD monitor is

More recently, not every user could afford to buy an LCD monitor. Time passed, and the number of flat screens in the market grew, so did the competition among manufacturers. This led to the fact that the price of devices began to fall and everyone can now easily buy a suitable monitor model.

If you translate the liquid crystal into English, you get a Liquid crystal display, that is, LCD and LCD are the same thing. The principle of operation of all currently existing screens is based on this technology. They also have almost the same design:

  • Matrix with liquid crystals;
  • Backlight
  • Metal frame for stiffness;

Such displays are very popular with electronics manufacturers. They are used in the manufacture of all electronic tools, from calculators to televisions.

Liquid crystals replaced CRT monitors and quickly replaced the latter from the market for electrical goods. They work on a matrix consisting of small and very flexible transistors.

Due to the fact that their device does not have a cathode ray tube, such monitors do not cause electromagnetic radiation, which makes them absolutely safe for human sight. They also have an excellent screen refresh rate, which makes the work behind them comfortable, as the picture is smooth and the eyes do not get tired.

LCD monitors are very cheap to manufacture. Each pixel is unique here, so such monitors are not suitable for professional use, since the technology will not allow to achieve good positioning. Due to the horizontal filter, it is impossible to achieve a good viewing angle on them.

LCD monitors have a number of undeniable advantages that determine their popularity.

  • Unlike older CRT monitors, modern models have good ergonomics. There are monitors whose thickness does not exceed 2 cm. They are compact, have a beautiful design and can be easily placed on the wall with a bracket if necessary.
  • The second important plus is that the screens do not emit radiation and do not flicker. This is due to the fact that the image is updated line by line, while in CRT screens each pixel was updated separately.
  • They also have the excellent ability to accurately and clearly convey the geometry of the broadcast objects.
  • All liquid crystal technology monitors consume a small amount of power.

Since the advent of the first LCD monitor, the technology has not stood still. Modern models have various matrices, characteristics and purposes.

TFT displays. The most inexpensive and common models. In their manufacture, pixels are used, twisted in a spiral. Therefore, they are great for watching videos and games. At the same time, they have a low response time. They also have a very long life. With proper care, they can last more than ten years.

They also have disadvantages. So, they have a small viewing angle, it takes a little to expand the screen and the picture becomes difficult to see. Even with an active matrix, they will play on this characteristic screens made using IPS or OLED technology. Color reproduction, good contrast and bright colors, they also can not boast.

REFERENCE! Suitable for office or home use. However, for people who are professionally engaged in design or photography, they will not work.

IPS displays. This monitor has pixels in parallel, as well as an active matrix. Thanks to this, the monitor has a wide viewing angle and excellent color reproduction. The playback image is very colorful, bright and has good contrast. But they are not suitable for video playback, since the parallel arrangement of pixels led to a long response time. If you watch the video, then moving objects will leave loops.

They are used by professional photographers and designers, since it is important for them that the color reproduction is realistic, and that the viewing angle and image brightness are maximum.

Also, these are quite expensive monitors, mainly focused on professional use.

REFERENCE! This technology is used by Apple, whose engineers were able to achieve excellent response times. But they do not share their development secrets.

LED monitors. This is a type of LCD - screens, the backlight of which is carried out by LEDs. They have a good viewing angle, high contrast and a very ergonomic design.

There are a very large number of different types of monitors on the market. All of them differ in characteristics, purpose and price. This allows you to easily purchase the right device that will meet all the requirements.
