How to glue a speaker

For repair, you can use different types of modern glue, which are produced to perform certain tasks.

For gluing a diffuser, colorless single-component adhesive SL is suitable. Initial setting occurs within 10-20 minutes, complete drying - in a day. Differs in high strength of gluing. Available in 100 ml plastic bottles.

Partially damaged rubber, fabric or polypropylene suspensions can be repaired with silicone sealant. Initial setting occurs within 30 minutes, final drying - 24 hours. The silicone retains the elasticity of the suspensions, allowing the diffuser to move freely.

The coils of the voice coil adhere well with DKD epoxy adhesive. The time of complete polymerization is 3 hours, provided that a building hair dryer is used with heating the air stream to 120 ° C. The glue is suitable for working with organic materials used to make voice coils. Available in 50 ml plastic bottles.

Akfix705 adhesive was developed to assemble the speaker. Available complete with aerosol activator. Bonding strength is gained in a few minutes. Recommended for bonding rubber and plastic. Available in a set: 200 ml activator + 50 g of glue.

Reference! Adhesives with aerosol activator have good viscosity. When working do not spread, do not drip.

Interbond glue is also suitable for assembling speaker components, especially gluing coils and flexible leads. Available in kit: 100 ml activator + 25 g glue.

How to glue the speaker on the column: step by step

Most often, partial or complete suspension damage occurs. Column repair with replacement of a damaged suspension for a new one in 6 steps:

  1. Dig a damaged suspension. It can be easily removed with a flat screwdriver if the bonding points with the diffuser are preheated with hot air.
  2. Clean the diffuser and body of adhesive residues with a solvent. The operation can be repeated twice. Solvent contact with skin may cause irritation. Work must be done with rubber gloves.
  3. Install the diffuser in the center so that it does not come into contact with the coil.
  4. Apply SL glue with a brush in a thin layer (no more than 3 mm) along the contour of the diffuser and suspension.
  5. Apply a new suspension to the diffuser, press the surfaces to be glued, hold for 10-20 minutes until the initial setting.
  6. After 24 hours, assemble the speaker and test.

Repair a partially damaged suspension without excavation in 6 steps:

  1. Remove the speaker from the housing.
  2. Clean from dust and dirt.
  3. Gently brush the silicone sealant with light movements on the remainder of the rubber suspension, supporting from below the places where the rubber burst. Leave on for 30 minutes to set.
  4. From pieces of dense canvas fabric cut pieces in the form of small squares, which will be glued to places with a crumbling suspension. Lubricate the squares and bonding points on the diffuser and diffuser holder with silicone, where they will be glued. Apply a layer of silicone on top of the pasted squares. Leave on for 30 minutes.
  5. Apply another layer of silicone in a dense layer along the contour of the reconstituted suspension and leave for 24 hours.
  6. Put the speaker in place in the case, conduct testing.

You can glue the speaker yourself, however, in this case, you must follow all the recommendations.
